1. Chris Conway resigns as the Most Haunted 'medium' On the 14th March 2010, the following statement appeared on http://chrisconwaymedium.com/
"I'd like to start by thanking you guys for all the love and support you have given me since the start of my Most Haunted adventure :-) However, I feel I can no longer continue as Most Haunted resident medium. I appreciate the chance given to me to work in television and I plan to continue to do so in some other show.
I had the decision to make between fame/money V's My beliefs and principles . I won't go into details but I couldn't be a part of something I didn't trust. Too many things were happening contrary to what I was picking up or at times picking up no spirit activity at all.
I thought it wrong to agree with the fans criticisms of the show while picking up a pay cheque from Antix Productions. I feel that we were either the luckiest paranormal investigation group in the world or the tapping’s, stone throwing etc wasn't paranormal. This is of course my opinion and is in no way any accusation of fraud on my part. My decision was made for me when I realised that on receiving my call sheet on a Friday the venue was being written on it for this series. I am strongly against any advanced knowledge of where I’m investigating (unless it is made clear I know). I opened the files and looked up my hotel whilst having to ignore the rest of my call sheet. This meant I felt like I wasn’t fully involved.
I also feel that I wasn’t involved enough in the actual investigations. If I didn’t manage to pick up all the information in the first 15 minutes I’d lost my chance. Even bringing stuff through at the hub wasn’t being aired. This I felt was not fair on myself or the fans.
I understand that many people don't believe in mediumship and feel we should not have been used on the show. I respect this viewpoint and I feel that every belief system has to have a balanced argument. If everyone was a believer it would be open to abuse. However, if everyone was a sceptic it would mean that we may miss some important phenomena.
I realise that this statement may invite some mud slinging from Antix Productions but it is my opinions and the truth as I see it. I feel my fans (and Most Haunted fans in general) deserve to hear my truthful reasons for leaving the show. I refuse to walk away with an excuse of why I left, in the hope it will prevent my name being tarnished by others.

Just to recap, Chris had said "I feel that we were either the luckiest paranormal investigation group in the world or the tapping’s, stone throwing etc wasn't paranormal." which validated the view of many internet commentators. That this came from a member of the Most Haunted team was pretty sensational. The statement caused the Most Haunted forums to explode. The majority of people appearing to support Chris over his claims and the way he seemed to have been treated. But it wasn't long before the defense was raised, and Antix hit back.....
2. Fred Batt releases a statement, appearing to contradict Chris' statement.
"Re: CHRIS CONWAY. I would just like to clear up something posted by Chris Conway today. Chris did not leave Most Haunted, his contract came to an end when this latest series ended, and as it has been Antix Productions policy since last year to only use a medium for two series, maximum, THEREFORE his contract was not renewed."
and then a further statement from Fred which said;
"There were also integrity issues from various locations that Chris was involved in, the last being Lincoln Prison, where, not for the first time, his medium-ship was put in doubt. Once again we have a "medium" plucked from obscurity and given the chance like so many other mediums before him, to make his name on TV, with the original Paranormal show that others followed over the yearsHe was given all the help in the world from professionals to make his TV appearances look professional and he repays the people that helped him by slandering them. I wouldn't usually get involved in this kind of discussion on here but I felt I had to put the story straight. As you all probably know I have known Karl & Yvette for some years and there is one thing I can assure you, they only deal in the truth. I keep saying that 99.9% of mediums are f.ake, but the only way to find a genuine one is to keep trying. I think the show would be better without them but that's just my opinion."
3. Ciaran O'Keefe makes a comment, also, like Fred, appearing to contradict Chris' statement.
Hi all! Chris has posted his reasons for leaving the show elsewhere. Within his explanation he provides opinions on the veracity of some of the alleged phenomena and states "Too many things were happening contrary to what I was picking up or at times picking up no spirit activity at all," in addition commenting on the frequency of phenomena. Whilst... See more viewers are aware of my constantly sceptical views on all the alleged phenomena and always striving to provide alternative explanations for each particular incident I cannot make conclusions on the phenomena based on its correspondence with mediumship (which in itself people know I am sceptical of).
That said, Chris is entitled to his opinion (wording he himself uses) and people know that normally I am respectful of other perspectives (including non-scientific ones). In addition to Chris' stated reasons for leaving, there may also be an element of frustration however at not being asked back for future MH shows and the upcoming Live. Whatever his reasons I shall remain with the show and endeavour to continually provide a sceptical voice and input where appropriate.
4. Chris Conway responds to Fred and Ciaran....
"I have to say one thing before bed.I was offered the live and have the emails from antix to prove it. Satements hinting I was not and my contract was up are misleading. My contract was up after EVERY series and Live. If the policy is 2 series then why have I completed 2 recorded, 2 Lives and 1 Live series? This is the ...last I will answer any of these people on the payroll of Antix productions. Blessings Chris"

Usually I wouldn’t bother commenting on the ramblings of ex Most Haunted employees or the silliness of the forums, but because of so many inaccuracies recently I have been asked as a special favour to make a comment.
Firstly, the accusations made by the alleged medium Chris Conway are false.
Let us deal in facts:
Firstly his contract finished on the last ‘Live: Series’ shoot, I am more than happy to publish this contract on the net.
He was never asked to be a part of Prague and it is this that has obviously started his negative responses. He was sent a courtesy email on 01.02.10, along with everyone else, informing of the rough dates that the live may fall on. He was never offered a position on it, as shortly after the email was sent we decided to use alternative people in that role. No other correspondence was sent or given and no inclusion in the live was offered or inferred. The fact that we have been obtaining the services of other individuals for some time will become all too clear on the live. Any comment to the contrary is a lie.
We have never held the locations a secret on live shows, as with the very nature of the show, these things get out anyway - and we have never hidden the fact. If the alleged medium uses any information prior to a shoot for their own advantage, then that is only fraud on their behalf and a complete loss of trust with everyone they work with, we can only trust them - we can’t control them.
I am not going to go into the reasons why we decided not to use Chris as I feel that it wouldn’t be professional to do so. Save to say that if anyone goes to Lincoln Prison, have a look at the first room on the right where you shall see all of the information given out as ‘psychic’ on the show written for all to see. That is fact and something which no-one, even you believers out there, can deny.
We are all shocked and saddened at the things being said by someone that we plucked from obscurity, showed nothing but respect and kindness to, and have given a platform to launch their career. He isn’t the first to show such dishonour and sadly I’m sure he won’t be the last.
To all those that have supported us I extend a hand of gratitude and deep thanks for all of your kind messages which makes us realise that we are doing the right thing.
We have always made Most Haunted for the millions of true fans in the UK and worldwide, that make this the most successful paranormal brand in the world, and will continue to do so.
Anywho, onwards and upwards. The Live in Prague is looking superb and promises to be the best yet.
Most Haunted is an ever changing beast and the future is bigger and better than ever so watch this space and see you all in Prague.

I was legally gagged then attacked on a public forum by the person responsible for gagging me. This smacks of double standards. For the moment I am removing this gag to respond to these allegations.

I have never denied my contract finished. It ended after EVERY series and Live. You want to publish my private contract on the net? Yet you have the cheek to cry because I have an opinion about your show.

I think anyone seeing the look of disgust, suspision, and uneasiness on my face would know I wasn't planning on staying. If you were indeed trying to replace me behind my back without having the decency to tell me this says more about you than me.

I beg to differ. I was never told the locations for the 8 faces of evil Live. Are you trying to say that I have committed fraud? I am an intelligent, degree qualified man. It may only be a 2:2 combined honours degree (which, before you say, I know is the lowest degree about and wasn't a good mark. However, this degree was made up of various subjects. One was history, world war 2, but the point is I could have, with prior knowledge of the location, found out every name, date, and story about the place. Put simply I could have come accross as the greatest medium to walk the earth. However, I am no f-ake and chose not to use this knowledge. I still wonder why I was told it though without the public being told.

The point is I already knew where I was going. I wouldn't have needed a name on a wall to commit fraud. I could have researched it but I didn't or i'd have impressed more by having lots of names dates etc. However, I have to ask. If you believed I was commiting fraud why did you, live on air, not say? Why did you go along with it. Why were you actualy affected by this name on the wall? I am not saying you commited fraud by these acts. I am merely curious.

The point is I already knew where I was going. I wouldn't have needed a name on a wall to commit fraud.
